Baller Babes

Kara and Kiersten are each on 2 basketball teams right now. Their Mustang feeder teams have been practicing since October, and participated in a jamboree tournament in November. Between the 2 of them I got to spend a whole weekend watching a total of 9 games. Ben went to 1, I believe. Luckily they were shortened games, and the timing worked out okay that I could get everyone where they needed to be. The reason Ben didn't make all the games was because He had to get Evie and Kiersten to their last soccer games of the season. Kiersten's team finished in first place again this year, so that is very exciting. Evie's team had a dinner and award party that our friends were kind enough to take her to. Kiersten's team canceled their basketball practice, but Kara's didn't, so I also had to squeeze that in there.
One of Kiersten's team mates broke her foot in the first game of the tournament, so they were left with just 7 players. All the girls get plenty of play time, but they do get tired.
There weren't enough 4th graders to do a team, so Kiersten was placed on the 5th grade team. She does get intimidated sometimes, and is the smallest, but I think it will really help her improve.

Kara had some good games in this tournament. She likes both of the teams she is on, but is sad that her good friend that is on both teams with her broke her finger and is out for a while.

We had a lot of fun in the down time between games.
Things got a little silly a few times.
Kiersten does not like to watch the older girls play. She feels like her team could beat them.

Kara only wants to practice 3 point shots, so I've really tried to convince her that she should work on shots she'll actually use during the games. She still sneaks in the 3pt attempts when she thinks I'm not paying attention.
Ben is coaching Kiersten's other team through the school district. I haven't been able to go to as many of those games, because Kara always seems to have one at a similar time too far away. But they are doing really well so far, and love playing together.
They just finished up another tournament this week, and it was exhausting getting everyone where they needed to be in time. They played Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, so driving and figuring out dinners, and figuring it all out less than a week before Christmas got a little stressful, but we worked it all out.
