4/14/11

Instead of staying on the couch for her nap, she moved the coffee table clear across the room, and curled up on the floor to sleep. She had the rug rolled up over her bum like a blanket, but it rolled back down right before i took the picture. You can still see the corner in the act of rolling back. If it were me, I'd prefer to sleep on the couch. Kara feeds Daisy every day. Sometimes I let Kiersten put water in her dish. A few days ago, I gave her the tall pink cup with water so she could give it to Daisy. I was unloading the dishwasher and feeding Evie simultaneously, and didn't notice the cups she snagged out of the dishwasher until I turned around and saw this set up. She said each cup was for a different stuffed animal, and that Daisy would have to learn to share. Silly girl. There were a few drops of water actually in the cat dish.
Evie is fascinated by Daisy, but still too nervous to get close enough to touch. Daisy was sniffing her a few weeks ago, and touched her nose to Evie's hand, which resulted in a panicked, screaming baby. But yesterday they enjoyed sitting and looking out the window together.
is there anything cuter than a 3 year old in overalls? perhaps a 3 year old in overalls with adorable dimples...
The bigger girls are always so helpful with getting Evie ready to go. I grabbed the camera just in time to catch the last 2 seconds of smiling before she started screaming and trying to rip these off.
We were headed out the door to go to Evie's Dr. appointment, but Kara begged to take a silly family picture. I said okay, just a quick one, and this is how it turned out. Kara ran to look at it, and declared, "this is perfect. Daddy is going to love seeing this!" So I felt obligated to share it with everyone else too. Evie needs to work on her silly faces, though.

4/12/11

Kara recieved a princess cupcake kit from her aunt Nancy for her birthday. Since then we've been busy, or out of town, or just had too many other treats around. But last week, I decided it was time to let her make them. The girls decided to have a princess party, and make the cupcakes at the end. So we all dressed up in dresses and jewelry. (notice the gorgeous necklace Kara made for me :)) They had me in a skirt, but I took that off for baking. It was pretty fun.
making the cupcakes.
They are always impatient when we have something baking. I had to put the cupcakes in the freezer to cool them faster, because they were so ready to get to the decorating. I know if they'd had more time to cool, they would have looked better. But oh well, they were gone after 2 days anyway.
they each had a little pastiage circle with a picture to paint. The edible water color was included with paint brushes. Kara got a little frustrated that she couldn't stay inside the lines with the brush. Kiersten was just worried about finishing her cupcakes first, and she had no reason to worry. She was done with all of hers before Kara was satisfied with her first one.
They loved the little pink crown wrappers around the cupcakes. Kara was reluctant to throw them away when she ate them. I was letting her save one for her scrapbook, but she left it down and Evie got ahold of it, so that was the end of it.
a closer view. can you see a difference between Kara's and Kiersten's?
The proud artiste. She loves watching cake decorating shows on tv and often tells us she wants to be a cake decorater.
Kiersten was pretty proud of her cupcakes, but mistakenly thought that she had free license to eat all of the ones she painted.
Princess Evie just got to sit in the high chair, snacking on a wagon wheel.
On sunday, I took the girls outside to ride their bikes. Kara fell down, and Kiersten decided it was too dangerous outside. So she brought her bike in the house. Evie was thrilled to see her riding it around.

my little beauty. It's fun to see her personality develpoing so much lately. She sure is a handful though.
Kiersten did end up coming back out to ride with kara. They have so much fun riding around together, but they hate that I wont let them ride in the street, or even go around the block unless I'm following behind them. I guess I'm just the worrying kind of mom.
that's all for now, as I have TONS to do before flying out to Utah with the girls soon. Hopefully Daddy can find something fun to do while we're gone. These 3 little girls are usually the focus around here.

4/6/11

In the april fool's day post, I mentioned I'd try to do something fun for dinner. So here is what I came up with thanks to family fun's website. The girls were pretty thrilled to see cupcakes were for dinner. Since we aren't all meatloaf fans, I just did my meatball recipe, and cooked the girls' in cupcake liners. The "frosting" is mashed potatoes, and you can't really see the shredded carrot on top for sprinkles. Kara kept saying how delicious her cupcake was until we told her it was really a meatball. Then she tried to say she didn't like it, and wanted a regular meatball like mom and dad were eating. since they had dessert for dinner, I gave them dinner for dessert. These are nilla wafers with chocolate icing for the patty, laffy taffy for the lettuce and cheese, and red icing for the ketchup. I saw several different versions of this online, so I just decided to use things the girls like, and I thought would taste okay together.
I also did white chocolate and starburst eggs, and tootsie roll and caramel bacon. Kara was so excited to see bacon. But as she picked it up, she sadly declared that it was plastic. I told her to bite into it, and she cheered right up as she realized it was candy bacon.
I didn't end up tasting the little burgers, but the girls said they were good.

Kiersten falling asleep in a weird spot yet again. I can't figure out how she gets comfortable enough to fall asleep.
Since the girls have been wanting to play video games and watch tv a lot lately, I declared yesterday to be a no tv day. They also didn't get to play any video games, including their leapsters. So they ended up having a lot of fun finding things to do, such as playing ring around the rosie with Evie. She LOVED it.

they also played tag, hide and seek, I spy, animal guessing game, and did cool tricks. We also played some board games. Here are some of their cool tricks they came up with.

this little girl is sure being a cutie today. she has just recently started foot tapping and bouncing up and down when she hears music. My camcorder was dead, so I got a few pictures of her dancing around.
I just love her, she's my little sweetheart!

little april fools

Kara's school is having a "goofy day" in honor of April fool's day. They were all told to wear something silly to school. Kara really wanted to wear daddy's shoes, pants, or his sock on her head. Since I couldn't think of a way to make any of those things practical for her to wear all day, She ended up picking out a kooky outfit and I did her hair goofy too. Of course Kiersten had to follow her example. Kara wore a halloween shirt backward, a skirt with tights, 2 different colored socks, Evie's leg warmers on her arms, and 3 pony tails. Kiersten just wore 2 different socks. Then Kara talked her into wearing one of Evie's leg warmers on one arm, and daddy's sock on the other arm. I made her take off the sock when we went to the gym, but let her keep the leg warmer. She got lots of attention from all the kids in the gym daycare. I gave them their cereal with forks and no milk. They thought that was pretty silly. I'm trying to come up with a fun idea for dinner. I need to start thinking about these things in advance.
Kara wanted a shot to show that her shirt is a halloween shirt. She thought that was the funniest part of all, since it isn't halloween. She directed her hairdo to make sure I did it just how she was envisioning it.
I told her the outfit made for a silly enough picture, but she wouldn't hold a straight face for me. I'm excited to pick her up from school to see what she thought of the plastic spider I put on her sandwich.
Kiersten said she wanted crazy hair, but when I started to do it, she kept crying and saying that doesn't look beautiful. So this is as goofy as she'd let me get it. She had a hard time picking out shoes. I agreed they could each wear 2 different shoes, but somehow Kiersten could only find right shoes. finally I had to help her find a shoe for the left foot, after she tried at least 6 times to get one.
we had a sunny day last week, so we had to play outside, of course. This is why we call her "Kiersten Beiber" She is always shaking her head to get that hair out of her face.

She found this rock and asked if she could add it to her rock collection. I agreed, though I was unaware of any rock collection. When we went in the house, she said, "wait! my rock collection!" she ran and picked up this rock again, which is when I realized that the collection consisted of just this one rock. I told her she'd have to keep it outside by the door. Later, it started hailing, and she was quite concerned about it getting ruined out there. She was happy to see it was just fine the next day.
Evie got to crawl around in the grass. She got all wet and muddy, since it rains every day, and it never has a chance to dry out. But she enjoyed herself out there.
Ben helped Kiersten make this little foam Easter house she picked out at the store. they seemed to have a pretty good time putting it together.
this is how it turned out.
