Just a few pics of the kids enjoying the new swings Ben put up for them.
Ben's friend, Jon came over with his little boy to play for the afternoon.
look how she's enjoying that swing! :)
We all had to play several rounds of "guardian". Kara's been wanting to play it with daddy forever.
It took the longest time to get all the balls past Ben. He was a pretty good guardian with those long monkey arms.
Evie is fighting her nap lately. Yesterday I just could not get her down for her morning nap. So when i put her in the highchair of lunch, she was asleep after the first bite. Not the preferable way to get her down for a nap, but lately this is one of the few places she's falling asleep.
a little stowaway. She thought it was so funny to be all zipped up in this bag.

Instead of staying on the couch for her nap, she moved the coffee table clear across the room, and curled up on the floor to sleep. She had the rug rolled up over her bum like a blanket, but it rolled back down right before i took the picture. You can still see the corner in the act of rolling back. If it were me, I'd prefer to sleep on the couch.
Kara feeds Daisy every day. Sometimes I let Kiersten put water in her dish. A few days ago, I gave her the tall pink cup with water so she could give it to Daisy. I was unloading the dishwasher and feeding Evie simultaneously, and didn't notice the cups she snagged out of the dishwasher until I turned around and saw this set up. She said each cup was for a different stuffed animal, and that Daisy would have to learn to share. Silly girl. There were a few drops of water actually in the cat dish.
Evie is fascinated by Daisy, but still too nervous to get close enough to touch. Daisy was sniffing her a few weeks ago, and touched her nose to Evie's hand, which resulted in a panicked, screaming baby. But yesterday they enjoyed sitting and looking out the window together.
is there anything cuter than a 3 year old in overalls? perhaps a 3 year old in overalls with adorable dimples...
The bigger girls are always so helpful with getting Evie ready to go. I grabbed the camera just in time to catch the last 2 seconds of smiling before she started screaming and trying to rip these off.
We were headed out the door to go to Evie's Dr. appointment, but Kara begged to take a silly family picture. I said okay, just a quick one, and this is how it turned out. Kara ran to look at it, and declared, "this is perfect. Daddy is going to love seeing this!" So I felt obligated to share it with everyone else too. Evie needs to work on her silly faces, though.

busy baby
Evie is getting to be such a fast crawler! I have to really be on top of her to make sure she doesn't get into trouble. I'd like to let her just roam and crawl around, but she is always on the hunt for things to put in her mouth, and things to get into. On friday, the girls played dress up, and they cleaned up well, but one of them left out a small ring on the floor. I heard Evie make a noise, and looked at her. I could see the ring in her mouth. As I moved to pick her up, she quickly tried to swallow it. Luckily, I was able to reach in her mouth and hook it with my fingernail and pull it out. Ben came home from work to find me still teary eyed about it. She could have choked to death! so now, she has to sit in her high chair, walker, or the excersaucer if I'm doing housework or anything else that takes my full attention away from the little stinker. She also found a hairball Daisy hacked up a few days ago. Ben almost lost it that time.
She is such a good crawler, that she has decided to try to learn to walk too! She can take up to 3 steps without falling, and the falling is usually voluntary and controlled, because she gets nervous. She also does a crouch down thing, and then stands back up without holding on to anything. She must have strong thighs, because that kills my legs when I try it. I took a video of her taking steps this morning, so I'll try to post that later.
another new trick is opening drawers. Sometimes she gets the knob in her mouth and then backs up to open them, but usually she just pulls them open with her hands. She loves getting into things that she isn't supposed to get into. The playroom, for example, has lots of small toys, choking hazzards, chalk, and other off limit things, so I don't let her in there. But if she ever sees the door open, she makes a beeline straight in there to play with her sisters.
I thought we were going to dinner for our anniversary on wednesday, but Ben called on tuesday afternoon, and was expecting to go that night. I was gonna try to get a babysitter, but since it was short notice, I just got the girls ready, and took them up with me to meet Ben. We had a nice dinner with them there, anyway. They are starting to be pretty well behaved at restaurants. Kiersten still has a few issues, but she's not too bad. Ben gave me a new sansa clip mp3 player to use at the gym. I really love it, and especially loved that he spent all day transferring all of our cds onto it. I know that makes us seem old, but we have hundreds of cds, so I don't want to pay to download anything, if we already have it on a cd. I was so glad he did it for me, because with the 3 kids, I would never be able to devote that much time to it, and it would only get a few cds on it.
This picture is of the girls ready to go up to meet daddy for dinner. They insisted on wearing dresses, even though it was a cold day.
Ben let Evie have her first taste of lime.
she didn't seem to like it at first, but after a few tastes, she kept going back for more, and even tried to get Ben's water glass to get at the lime.
I just like this picture. It's a good illustration of how Kara is always hovering around Evie and trying to help me monitor her. Evie was wearing one of Ben's favorite baby outfits that day. He bought that for Kara 5 years ago, and they've all worn it now. unfortunately Evie's feet are too big for the little cowgirl boots the other 2 wore with it. She is my littlest baby, but has the biggest feet!
Here is the latest Kiersten-sleeping-in-an-uncomfortable-spot picture. This was friday.
We had a friend over to watch the superbowl, and he brought stuff for nachos. One of the items was a can of black beans. Kiersten LOVED them. I gave her several spoonfuls throughout the day, and when I was cleaning up the kitchen she grabbed the can off the counter and just started stuffing her face. It ended up getting even messier than this picture.

pizza and games
Yesterday, Ben gave Kara the option of going to the park for a picnic and to fly her kite, or going to Chuck E Cheese for pizza and games. After a lot of thinking and changing her mind a few times, she picked Chuck E Cheese. Kiersten got in a quick nap on the drive there. She loves that white kitty she is using as a pillow.
They got to play games right away while we waited for our pizza to be ready. We looked through the newspaper before we left and found some coupons to use there. Ben sat with a calculator and checked all of the coupon combinations to make sure we got the best deal possible on food and tokens.
The last time we were there, we were surprised how much we liked the pizza. We hadn't been expecting it to be very good. But it was actually quite tasty. It must have been a fluke, because this time, the pizza was once again what you would expect to get at a kid's pizza place.
The girls usually never get soda, but have gotten to have rootbeer 3 times in the last week. They absolutely love it, and savor every drop. I hope they don't start expecting to get it all the time now.
play time. They had fun on all the slides, rides, and games. I also want to point out Kiersten's shirt. It is her favorite shirt. She wears it every time it is clean, and cries sometimes if it isn't. I get so tired of her wearing it all the time, so I will put it at the bottom of her drawer, but she has learned to search for it. She calls it her "fwoggy sirt". As tired as I get of her wearing it, I suppose it's kinda cute how much she loves it.

spider stomping game. Kara played this one 3 times.
Kiersten's favorite part of every game was getting the tickets. She even went around checking all the machines, and claiming all the tickets that had been left behind by someone else. She got at least 10 or more that way. Ben helped her win a bunch on this game, and she could hardly contain her excitement at seeing so many tickets coming out at once.

Of course, Kiersten loves the little toddler play area.

I think they ended up with a little under 800 tickets. they both got the exact same prize, pink cotton candy and a pink bracelet. They thought they were each going to get to eat their entire bag of cotton candy in the car on the way home. They were disappointed when I only opened one bag, and limited the amount they got to eat.
After we got home, I worked on digging up dandelions in our yard, and the girls rode their bikes and played with sidewalk chalk. An ice cream truck showed up, and I let them each buy a treat. They sure got spoiled yesterday, and I hope it was a fun day for them. Ben and I were both exhausted by the end of the night.

We all know who the princess is around here.
This is just a silly picture of both of the princesses. hehehe.
On saturday, we took the girls to see Monsters vs. Aliens. We stopped at Mcdonalds on the way there, and I thought this picture of Kara was funny.
After the movie, we took the girls to the park to fly Kara's kite.
I love this one of Kiersten pointing up at the kite. She thought it was so cool flying way up there.
I made them take a cute family picture at the park.
I was trying to take a picture of our old couch for a craigslist listing, and Kara insisted on having her picture taken too. Of course Kiersten joined her. I was surprised as I snapped the shot, that Kara grabbed Kiersten and smooched her.

Kara and I made rice krispie treats for Ben the other day. When he went down to check them out, he found this mysterious bite taken from a large peice. Kara was quick to own up to it.

I went in to check on Kara watching a movie in the guest room. I found her like this, all cozy with Kiersten's newest blanky.

Our neighbor ordered some meat from a local vendor, but forgot to cancel their order. When they refused to buy the meat upon delivery, the meat guy came over to see if I would buy it. I told him I didn't think so, but he offered it to me at half price since a lot of it is stuff they don't normally get orders for and it would just be sitting around in their freezer waiting to be ordered. (it had been special ordered from thier supplier for my neighbor.) He showed me their bill for almost $800, and said I coudl get it for $400. I said that I would pay $300. So he said okay to that, but didn't give me the shrimp, since it will probably sell immediately anyway. I looked on the order, and it was just $18 for the shrimp, so I was fine with that. Now we have 2 freezers full of different cuts of steak, hamburger patties, and a bunch of different marinated chicken breasts. It will last us at least 6 months, probably longer! Here is Kiersten eating some of the chicken that Ben grilled for her. she grabbed the sweet and sour sauce out of the fridge and handed it to him, so he decided to give it a try. It actually turned out pretty tasty. Good call Kiersten.

sleepy baby after a long day at the Northwest trek.

We had to buy Kara a sweater at NW trek since Ben told her not to worry about a coat. It was rainy and cold, but they only had adult sizes. I got this one thinking I would just use it after, but she wont let me put it in my closet. It is hers, it'll just take about 10 years to grow into it. Notice the chicken nugget in her hand. I thought that was funny. All she got was one bite before she fell asleep.

I love our laid back days
All we had to do today was go grocery shopping and pick up the dry cleaning, so I let the girls play in the backyard for quite a while this afternoon. It was pretty warm today, so we didn't even need jackets. They sure had fun.

They got so tuckered out from playing. Now they are both taking naps. When I was getting Kiersten to sleep, Kara was excited, because she likes to pretend that Kiersten is sleeping beauty, and that she is the prince. So she was impatiently waiting and telling me about how she was gonna give sleeping beauty a kiss when she was asleep. But they both fell asleep about the same time, so no prince charming today.
