Pumpkin farm field trip

Kiersten and Evie had their first field trip on tuesday. The 2 year olds weren't supposed to be invited, but the ones with older siblings in the school were able to attend. We went to a pumpkin farm. I didn't get any good pictures of the hay ride, but we sat right up front. Kiersten was very concerned about all the mud coming off the tires, but we were just high enough up to be out of the way.

Evie was terrified to try out this slide, but once she went down, she loved it. I think it was sitting on the potato sack that was upsetting her.

Kiersten rode on this zip line over and over.
They really wanted to ride these tire ponies, but as soon as they got on, Kiersten said, "these aren't as fun as real horses..."
Kiersten's best buddy from next door was there too. Here they are sliding together.
There were several mazes, and we had little flashlights, but the girls didn't make it through a single one. They'd be in there for a minute or two, and then they'd come back out the entrance, and I wasn't willing to crawl though it.
Kiersten was actually in this tower for several minutes, and I thought sh'ed figured it out, but kids kept going in and backing right out, saying someone was in there, blocking the way. Sure enough, kiersten came back out, and told me she had gotten stuck, and finally decided to crawl out backward. This would probably be a better activity for Kara's age group.
We got through the corn maze really quickly. I was surprised, because several moms told me they were stuck in there forever. Evie led the way, and we only hit 2 dead ends, and then came right out.
They loved this spinning tire.

I guess I didn't get a very good picture of this pirate ship. The kids really loved it and we played up there for a while.

We had to wait in a long line for this tire swing, But Kiersten was determined to ride on it.
This swing had no line, and I think they had a lot more fun on this one.
After the field trip, I took the girls out for ice cream to use a couple free coupons they had.

Then, once Kara got home from school, we had their last swim lesson for this session.
Kara graduated from the clown fish class. Next week she starts with the stingrays. She was so excited because her friend Addison has been in the stingray class, and she thought they'd have lessons together now, but she got moved up a level too, so they'll still be in separate groups.
Kiersten graduated from the tadpoles, and will start the clown fish class next week. I wish I had more of a break from lessons, as tuesdays and thursdays are a mad rush in the afternoons, but Ben really wants them to be swimming better by the time we go on vacation in January. So we'll probably keep them enrolled until then.
On thursday, the girls wanted a halloween project to do, so we made orange rice krispie treats. I hate making them, and rarely do, so it was pretty exciting for all. They are one of Ben's favorite treats, so he was especially happy. Evie got to put in the orange marshmallows.
I have to really make sure they each get an equal amount of jobs, or someone ends up pouting.
Evie gets upset regardless. To her, the only fair way is if she gets to do everything.
They were so proud of the finished treats. I was too, since I hardly ever get them right. But this time I didn't cut out any steps, or get impatient with the process, and they turned out pretty good.
