Happy 2nd birthday Kiersten-ator!

My Kiersten baby is 2 years old today! Ben likes to get their picture as they come downstairs in the morning. She was thrilled to find all these presents waiting for her. We let her open most of them, but we saved 2 from us and the one from Kara for her birthday party tomorrow.
she loved the hanging balloons. Funny note; these are the same balloons from Kara's birthday in January. They never deflated, so I just re-used them. Of course she had most of the balloons down and the streamers too, by lunch time.
This was my first time using newspaper to wrap a gift. I've seen it done a lot, but I've never been inclined to do it before now. I got burned out on wrapping gifts late last night, and I did this first thing this morning before she woke up.
She was so happy to open the gifts! We had her open the new chair first, so she could sit in it to open the rest. She loves this chair!
She loves Nick Jr., so we got her a 3 pack DVD. She has wanted to watch the same one 3 times today. I let her since it is her birthday and also because I was busy with making cakes. There are 5 or 6 shows on each disc, but she wanted to watch the same one over and over, silly girl.
opening her new laptop. now she wont have to fight with Kara over the other one. Kara's is a little advanced for her anyway, and I thought she would have more fun with this one for younger toddlers.

She looks funny in this one, because she was excitedly telling me that it had bubbles. I caught this just as she was pronouncing the "s".
she loves the laptop! I knew she would because she played with it in the shopping cart when I bought it. I am not very sneaky or secretive, but I'll have to get better about it now that they're getting older.
I offered her anything she wanted for breakfast, and she chose cereal, of all things.
She is always jealous of Kara's apron and hat, so she got one of her own. She got to wear it to help me bake her birthday cake.
posing with all of her gifts so far. She will be getting a few more fun toys tomorrow at her party. She got to open all of the clothes, and gifts from granparents, aunts, and uncles, and some of the toys we got her.
She got this baby pony from Grandpa and Grandma Boot. So far today it has been her favorite new toy. She calls it "cute pony" and is feeding it constantly. I have already had to help her diaper it twice. I have seen these and wanted to get her one for a while, so I'm glad she finally has one.
watching her new movie in her own chair. It even rocks.Toys R us has these "birthday" Barbies for $3. So both girls got one. It wasn't wrapped as a birthday gift, but she saw it and wanted it opened. I'm surprised how much she likes barbies. Kara never had them at this age, because I didn't think she would like them that much. but it's one of their favorite things to play with.
I made Kiersten a Wow wow Wubbzy cake this year. It wasn't very hard to carve it out, but my wrist was killing me by the time I was done icing it. I think it turned out pretty cute. Kiersten recognized it as Wubbzy as soon as I had it carved and the first layer of yellow frosting on. She got more and more excited as he started coming together. I had enough cake left over to make a birdy-bird, but by the time I was done with Wubbzy, I just wanted to be done. she keeps asking, "where's Widget?" (one of the other characters from the show) I just laugh and tell her there is no way I'm making a Widget cake too.
Here's what he is supposed to look like if you don't know. I picked him because he is Kiersten's favorite character, and because I figured he would be simple enough. Basic shape, and not too many colors.I started working on cakes as soon as Ben and Kara left this morning. I didn't finish til 1pm. Luckily, we had leftover sandwiches from Jimmy John's to eat for lunch, so that was easy.
I used the left over cake to make a cake for Kiersten to have tonight after dinner. I tried fondant again, and it went much smoother this time. I still hate how much of a mess it makes, but I worked as clean as possible. I know the board is messy, but I'm pretty happy with it. And I have to say, kneading the fondant makes all the difference. I skipped that last time, because I thought it was a waste of time, but it made everything much easier. It took forever to color the pink and purple fondant, though. And of course my hands are totally stained, but it was still fun.

Such cute pictures! Taking a picture of Kiersten coming down the stairs reminds me of Christmas in my house when I was a kid and my dad used to take our picture coming down the stairs. I love your birthday cakes!
