Weekend in De Soto

We decided to spend a few days in De Soto once the girls were out of school for winter break. It was only about an hour away, and we were all ready to get out of our routines for a few days. I was worried that the girls wouldn't have much to do, and would get bored, with it being too cold to spend much time outdoors, so I brought a gingerbread house for them to make.

They always get goofy doing things like this.
Kiersten's side was so fancy.
Kara's side turned out very precise and orderly.
I made an icing snowman, but he melted, hence my sad expression.
The hotel was decorated super cute, so I made the girls pose for a lot of pictures.
It also gave us something to do, ha.
Evie found a twin.
The hotel had a fun activity room. So we went over there a couple times for some fun. There weren't very many other people around, so they didn't have to wait for anything. They used up most of their spending money in there.
Kara liked the basketball game best.
The indoor decorations were fun as well.

The girls had a coloring competition. Evie gets impatient, so it's very easy to spot her sloppy work.
Kara gave up on coloring fairly quickly, and opted to draw her own Christmas character.
We all ate our share of peppermints that were available.
We spent some time on the playground when we needed some fresh air. The climbing around helped us stay warm.
When the girls were tired of board games and the activity room, we headed over to the local theater to see Aquaman. We all liked it a lot.

We played mini golf a few times, and Ben and Evie played with out the rest of us a couple times too. It was too cold for some of the princesses. There was a basketball court and tennis courts, but the girl in the activity center couldn't find a basketball or the tennis rackets, so we stuck with mini golf.
There was some amount of silly dancing to stay warm.
But everyone was in good spirits overall.

We wanted to check out the lake, but no one had any desire to take out the fishing boat. It was a nice little walk.

Right after this, everyone wanted to go back to the room to warm up with cocoa. We borrowed "Elf" and "A Christmas Story" from the activity center and had a fun evening in.

The girls sure know how to make my heart race with their "cool tricks".

And don't think I wasn't freaking out about this.
Our last day there was a little bit warmer, so that was nice, but we still cut our trip short by one day so we could get home in time to watch the Chiefs game. Ben didn't want to be stuck trying to stream it on his phone.

Evie finally won a stuffed animal with her last token.
Kara was destroying Kiersten at air hockey until she recruited Daddy to her team. Then the tables turned on an unhappy Kara.

It was a fun, quick trip, but I think we'd have more fun there in the summer, when all of the fun outdoor activities are more accessible.

They were so excited to stop at Fazoli's for lunch on the way home. They love that place.
