we moved!

We got to St. Louis on saturday afternoon. Ben had me call in an order to a bbq place on the way to our new apartment. It was a really tasty lunch, but crazy trying to get in that place to pick up the order. I had to shove through a line of people, and everyone was pushing right back. My mom was here for a few days helping with the kids and getting us settled in. She flew home monday afternoon, and I'll bet she's glad to be home after 3 weeks with my crazy kids.
We went house hunting on sunday, and narrowed our list down a bit. We are going again to see a few places on saturday. But for now we are in an apartment building across the highway from the zoo. Ben and I took Kara and Kiersten on sunday to see about half of it, and my mom and I took the girls again on monday. It is a really big zoo. We still haven't seen all the animals, as it was ridiculously crowded both times we went. I didn't realize this week is spring break, and this was the first really warm weekend here. So hopefully next week we can try going again, and it wont be so crazy. I took a few pictures the first day at the zoo. This first picture is Kara and Kiersten hanging out in our new apt.

the week before Christmas

The girls have been having so much fun this week, being out of school. Here they are jumping on some bubble wrap that came in a package from my parents. Notice they each put on one shoe to help them pop it.Ben got these littel masks for them to color. Kara is a reindeer.Kiersten is a snowman. Evie had an elf one, but I didn't get a picture. We also made little tiny gingerbread houses. That was a huge hit.Ben also got them these ornaments. They colored in the area meant to put a picture, but I'll probably add pictures in later. This is the one Kiersten made. There's usually quite a difference in Kara's coloring, and Kiersten's. Kiersten is getting better lately, though. This is obviously Kara's.On another day we decorated stockings for Papa and Grams. The girls have just been thrilled about them coming to spend Christmas with us this year.Kiersten tried so hard, but her decorations all turned into blobs. Papa and Grams loved the stockings when they arrived yesterday morning. The girls were very eager to show them. Here is some of the candy the girls helped me make. I didn't remember to take a picture til it was already mostly gone.making chocolate suckers. Kara did a very good job on some of hers. Good enough that I put some of them on the plate I sent to work with Ben.Here are some cute foam ornaments the girls made. Kiersten actually wrote "Anna" on her snowman, because that was what the picture on the packaging said. Kara kept making fun of her for it. I just had her write her own name on the back, and we decided her snowman is named Anna.Kara's santa and snowman.Yesterday they got to help me bake a giant snowman cookie. We did chocolate chip. They haven't decorated it yet, so I don't have a picture of the finished product. They were great at helping me clean off the spatula and beater. Who needs a dishwasher?Since Kerry and Lana are here, we decided to go to zoo lights last night. It wasn't nearly as cold as the last 2 years. It was crazy busy though. Here's our little group, sans Ben.Notice Papa is smiling while being smacked in the face by a light wand. He's a great sport!Evie really enjoyed the lights. She was so cute running around and pointing and jabbering excitedly. Our annual picture in front of the purple and green tree. The girls are so excited for Santa to come tonight. Kara keeps pestering me about the gifts under the tree that say, "Christmas Eve". You really can't sneak anything past her. We have 3-4 more projects to do today, and I also need to get the girls running around a lot so they'll be extra tired tonight. Kara is on a kick of trying to stay up all night. She tries it at least once a week, and resists going to bed almost every night. I think she'll be willing to go to bed tonight, but I do suspect she may try to stay awake in her room. So I especially want to get her super tired.

zoo and princess party!

On saturday, we decided to go to the zoo. We haven't been for several months, so it was pretty fun to let Evie run around, and see everything. She was impressed with the walruses. It brought me back to when Kara was a baby, and loved watching them.
Checking out the tiger. They have tiger cubs, but we didn't end up seeing them this time.

The kids had tons of fun running around in the shark room with their buddy, Zac.

Kids in the shark bite, looking scary!

and a smiling one too.

They always love the playground. We have to go there last, or the kids wouldn't want to go see any animals.

climbing Kara

Yesterday after school, Kara invited us to a princess party. She said we had to have it before Daddy came home so his feelings wouldn't be hurt that he was not invited. Kiersten insisted on being called, "Lady Kiersten". We also had to speak like princesses, and say things like, "this strawberry is simply divine".

Evie enjoying her hot chocolate and cheese.

After the tea party, we played a few board games until the girls started arguing and fighting. Every time someone had to fall down a chute, Kara and Kiersten would laugh wildly, and Evie joined in too, though she didn't really know why she was laughing.

Kara said she would like to plan a halloween tea party when Grandma comes at the end of the month. So I'll have to help her think of a few ideas for that.

Utah visit

We just got back from a 2 week trip to Utah and Idaho. The first week was spent in Utah visiting with my family. The girls and I flew out together, and Ben stayed behind in Washington to work that week. We stayed with my parents for several days. The girls loved my mom's cat, Muffy. Kara kept trying to get a picture with her, but she kept running away. Digging in Shelly's backyard.

My lovely neice Makayla was so good with the babies, and little kids. Evie really took a liking to her.

my mom was so thrilled that Rylynn came to sit on her lap. Usually she is a Grandpa's girl. So we had to take a picture to remember that she did take a nap with Grandma at least once.

Kiersten took a nap in a comfortable place for once!

Just a picture to make Ben jealous of my meatloaf and funeral potatoes. Also, This was taken before Jackie cut my hair off.It is much shorter now, and I don't miss an inch of it!

I got this egg at the dollar store. The girls and their cousin Cash excitedly waited for it to hatch.

I got this little easter project for the girls to do at Grandma and Grandpa's house the day that none of their cousins came over to play.

Kara loved hanging out with Cash.

Mom, Jackie, and I took the kids to a restaurant called Pirate Island. They sure had a blast!

Kiersten won tons of tickets.

Evie really liked her Grandma Boot, and would even reach for her while I was holding her, which is rare. Mom loved having a baby like her so much.

The girls used their tickets for eye patches, erasers and tootsie rolls.

The kids were so excited when the egg finally hatched and a baby duck was inside.

Another easter project that the girls did with Cash.

Jayden and Kiersten.

Dad holding Evie and Kaymie. He sure is good with all the kids.

Uncle Nic playing with Evie.

We spent a few nights at Shelly and Troy's house in eagle mountain. My girls loved having other girls to play with and playing dress up and fashion show.

Kara and Laynee get along so well. As much as she loves all her cousins, Laynee seems to be the favorite. They have just about everything in common.

Jackie bought brightly colored cupcakes for Cash's birthday party. all the kids got a kick out of Kiersten's messy face. she had bright green poo 2 days later.

we had a sister sleepover, and all the kids watched movies and slept in sleeping bags. the next morning, there was popcorn everywhere! It was fun playing games and laughing with mom and my sistas, and Makayla joined the adults too.

the next morning we took all the kids to hogle zoo. they had fun, but it sure was an adventure trying to follow around 14 kids!

we had a big group, and some people were annoyed, and some people thought we were polygamists since Troy was the only husband that went. but all the kids had fun, and that's what matters. we may have had a lot of kids, but at least they were pretty well behaved.

adorable kiddos. Laynee, Kara, and Addy stuck together. Afton really wanted to be included in their little group.

After the zoo, we had the kids play some easter games, anf then they had an egg hunt in the backyard.
