The good thing about missing our ports in Canada, is that we got to New York a day early. We were planning to just get off the ship, go straight to the airport and head home. But we got the whole day there, and docked overnight, so we got to see the city at night as well. We talked to several people from there, that just went home early. Too many days at sea, I guess.
We got in very early, and Evie was the only one who was willing to get up with me to watch as we approached New York. It was chilly, but we drank a lot of hot cocoa.
It was a lovely sunrise.
She really enjoyed going under the bridge.
This is about when Ben joined us on deck.
We went by the Statue of Liberty. I really liked to see that. I was a little emotional thinking about my dad coming to the US on a ship with his parents when he was little. Their situation was so different, looking for a better life for their family. It felt like a privilege to see the same city, same view, but just on vacation with my family. I'll bet my grandparents never imagined that for their grandkids.
It was so crowded, and hard to see. It's nice to have a big guy around to make space for us.
Look at my exciting hair!
It wasn't too hard to get off the ship, which kind of surprised me, but we were glad to get an early start walking around.
We just spent the day wandering into shops, looking at famous places, and eating New York pizza. Of course we also did plenty of shopping.
The Nintendo store was fun for the kids.
Ben really liked it too.
They also had fun at FAO Schwarz. We didn't let them get anything from there, though,.
They really liked Times Square too.
Who knew there was a Line store? We all have the app, so the kids thought it was pretty fun.
M&M was also one of their favorites. They didn't want to leave.
