Kara and Evie were able to get in a week of swim team before our FL/GA trip. They were pretty happy to be back in the pool. Kiersten was unable to participate on account of the broken arm.
Evie loves the extra attention from all of the older kids that help out for the first 2 weeks.
Kara got to help with crocodile camp for the first time this year. She just loved it and adores working with the cute kiddos. She also started babysitting this summer, and has enjoyed that as well.
Swimming with her bestie!
Evie loves to be awarded the stuffed crocodile that goes home with the kid that tried hard at practice. She will sure miss getting it next year. I will not miss frantically trying to find in the next morning to bring back so someone else can take it home. She got it on Fridays several times this summer, and loves having it for the weekend to play dress up, have tea parties, and cuddle at night.
We were all so ready to get Kiersten's long, pink, bent elbow cast removed. She was so over it and starting to be sour about being at the pool or anywhere fun that she couldn't participate. She was a little sad to see the signatures go, but not sorry. They asked if she'd like to keep the cast, and she said, "trash it!". The nurse was really laughing about that and the fact that she knew and was singing the Sweater Song by Weezer. That really blew his mind. Thanks satellite radio.
Her scrapes under the cast were healed up nicely, and she was approved to get a water cast. Her X-Rays looked great as well, so she got a short cast below the elbow and was cleared to start swimming after a few days. Her arm was not as disgusting as I'd imagined it was under there. We did have a little dirt to clean off.
She picked blue this time, and she got some sparkles. It felt weird to straighten out her elbow, so it took her about a day to stop holding her arm the way it had been in the previous pink monster.
The first thing she wanted to do was hit the pool! I had to laugh because it was a complete shift from weeks of crying about not wanting to be there, to begging me to take her. Her attitude immediately brightened up, and we hardly remembered she even had a cast because it didn't make her miserable.
She was very excited to be invited to attend swim team practice. We didn't know if she'd be allowed to participate with the cast on, but she was fine. She didn't get cleared to dive, but just started the races from the side of the pool instead.
She was also very anxious to FINALLY get to play with the rainbow unicorn. I think this was the main thing making her upset about being at the pool. It does look pretty fun doesn't it? I can tell you it is.
