Easter decorating projects

The girls were really excited to have "Easter week" this week for their home school. For an art project, they made some Easter decorations to put up in the apartment.

We also made these envelope bunnies to put snacks in. Kiersten made an extra one for Whitney, so Kara made one for Tommy. They are very excited to show their cousins the bunnies when they arrive later this week. Tommy's bunny is to the far right, and has a yellow tooth, because Kara said, "he hates to brush his teeth". so I have no idea where she got that from.

I was getting tired of my boring, unpainted nails, so we bought some Easter colored nail polish at the store today, after we left the zoo. After lunch we all painted our nails. Kiersten is so pleased with her alternating purple and green fingers.

Evie got pink fingers, but it is impossible to get a picture of them, I guess. I took 8 different shots, and in every single one, she curled her fingers in at the last moment. this is the only picture that you can actually see one finger.

Kara used pink as well on her fingers, and copied Kiersten's purple/green combo for her toes, which made Kiersten kinda mad at first, til I explained it was cool that Kara thought her idea was good enough to copy.

During Evie's nap, the girls made this Easter centerpiece. It was so easy for them. They didn't need any help, so I was free to straighten up while they made it. All I had to do was tie a bow around the flower pot once they had all their peeps skewered and placed.

We hung their suncatchers that they painted a few days ago in the window. Kiersten was sad that she couldn't reach as high as Kara.

We finally got scotch tape, so they were able to hang the decorations they made all over the apartment.

They wanted more decorations to tape up, so I had them trace their hand prints to make butterflies.

I had some peeps left over from their centerpiece, and also this green pot that a leprechaun left here on St. Patricks day full of candy. So I made some royal icing and "glued" the peeps around the edge of the pot. I tied a cute piece of ribbon around the edge with a bow. Kara thought it was hilarious to keep saying, "they're peeping over the edge at us". I didn't want to buy more flowers, and after searching through all the girls' stuff we have here, I decided to crochet a few large flowers. Then I just hot glued them onto skewers and decorated them with beads and easter embellishments, and stuck them down in the pot. It still looked a little bare, so I stuffed in a bit of yellow tulle left over from Kiersten's tutu, and ended up with this cute little easter decoration.

now we are decorated for Easter, and didn't have to spend more than a few dollars to get our sad little apartment looking cheery and fun. Tomorrow I think I'll check out pinterest for some fun easter treat ideas!

Evie's blessing and Easter

After a week in Utah, my parents drove me and the girls up to Idaho Falls for Evie's baby blessing. Ben had driven out early that morning from home, and met us at Mark and Vicky's house. Here we are with Grandma Hill waiting outside the church for the bishop to show up for the blessing. He had forgotten about the blessing, so we went back to Mark and Vicky's to eat dinner. We were all tuckered out from the drive and a cold we caught in Utah.

when the bishop got our messages, he came right over for the blessing. She slept through it, but woke up happy. My dad gave her the sweetest blessing.

After the blessing we colored easter eggs. Amber and Shaun came over with their twin boys, who we hadn't met in person yet.

Look at these cute kids waiting for an easter egg hunt. We had the hunt around noon on sunday.

my girls were sure anxious to get out to the hunt.

my sweet little bear. she is getting so big. When we were dress shopping, she had already picked out this dress, and when we found perfectly matching shoes at H&M, she said, "O..M..G.. these are the perfect shoes I've been looking for!" what 5 year old talks like that?!?

Kiersten is getting prettier and prettier. She loved this dress at the store. She really freaked out about it and had to have it. It drove her crazy to see it in her closet for a month and not be able to wear it.

It got a bit competitive between the two girls. Kiersten lost her temper a few times when Kara beat her to an egg.

since all of the girls' Easter stuff got left home by someone (Ben!) We bought some clearance premade baskets for them to hunt for. They still ended up with tons of candy and toys though.

Evie was pretty excited about her treats and the easter grass.

It was a really fun blessing/easter weekend. Be looking for another post in the next day or so with pictures from our week in Idaho.

Easter

We stayed up too late playing Dr. Mario on saturday night, so the girls were the first to wake up on Easter morning. I heard them playing, so I got up, and before long, they were begging me to let them wake up Daddy, so I did. What a fun way to wake up. cute little Tommy in his Easter outfit. He is just such a little sweetie.

The girls loved playing with Tommy. And I hope he liked the attention he got from both of them.

Kiersten got to pick out her easter dress this year. At the time, I was really trying to get her to like a different one, but she looked so adorable, so it turned out to be a great choice.

Kara also picked out her dress this year. She has been so excited to get to wear it. but not as excited as she was when she looked out the window and saw eggs everywhere.

The girls have loved having uncle Victor and aunt Nancy around this weekend.

Nancy helped Kiersten with her basket. At first, she was opening each egg as she picked it up, but she ended up getting lots of eggs anyway. I think she ended up finding $4.50 in quarters.

Kara is great at finding easter eggs. She made $5.50 in quarters.

Poor Kiersten cried and cried after Ben left for work this morning. Then she started crying again when we left Kara at precshool. When we got home, I was making beds, and she went and started knocking on the guestroom door. I went to get her, and she said, "where Tommy go?" of course she got really upset again when I reminded her that he had gone home. She said she wanted to take a nap, and has been sleeping ever since. I hope I can cheer her up when she wakes up.
