12/7/11

Kiersten was very excited for her daddy-daughter day on saturday. She even got all dressed up, and wanted her hair curled. She has been being a really good girl lately. I can't remember the last time she needed a time out. She must know that Santa's elves are watching her.
I tried to get a picture of Evie by the tree. This was the best I coud get, as she insisted on getting up on the fireplace for the picture.

While Ben and Kiersten were on their date, i took the other girls to the mall to get some things for Ben's birthday. We saw santa there, and he didn't have much of a line. Kara kept wanting to walk past and get a good look at him. She finally decided it was the real guy, and she had to go sit by him, in case the real santa doesn't come back to that mall before Christmas. Evie fell asleep in line, and after Kara sat on santa's lap, and whispered with him for a minute, I set Evie on his lap too. She kind of snuggled up into his sleeve, and then very sleepily opened her eyes. Right as they were taking the picture, she looked up at Santa, panicked, and started screaming. She looked around frantically until se saw me, and then started screaming and reaching for me. So we ended up with an interesting picture. I'll scan it in when we get Kiersten's picture with Santa this weekend. They got candy canes and a coupon for free cotton candy at Kid's Korner. so after we got the free candy, we headed home.
Here is Evie sitting at the table in her new booster seat. She eats a lot better now that she sits with the rest of us.

I bought a bunch of ornaments on clearance after Christmas last year. We ended up deciding to use black, silver, and purple on the tree this year, so I used the new ornaments to make a little wreath. I think it turned out pretty cute. The girls loved helping make this, and it was super easy, and just what we needed for the guestroom door.

This picture didn't show up too well, but this onesie was ruined by pen marks all down the front. I was going to give it to goodwill, but then decided to see if I could fix it up somehow. I figured if I messed it up, I wouldn't care, since I was getting rid of it anyway.

The new look. Kiersten is also in the picture, wearing a skirt she wanted me to make on sunday. I was too lazy to get out a pattern, so it could have turned out a little better, but she's happy with it, and was excited to wear it to school on monday.

A close up of Evie's onesie. It's supposed to be lolly pops. I think it'll look even cuter after it gets washed a few times and the fabric starts curling up more. I just looked online for ideas and found this great tutorial.

10/21/11

I don't have many new pictures this week. I've been busy with getting our dishwasher replaced, getting ready for my trip to Utah with Evie, and getting things back in order from Ben being gone last week. Ben took this picture of the girls while I was at the gym. He didn't like me going at 5 am, because sometimes Evie would wake up, and he'd have to get up with her. So I've been going after dinner, and he has been great about getting the girls to bed without me.
I just got out our box of 18 month clothing and size 5 shoes for Evie. She loved going through the bin of shoes and picking out the ones she liked best. My little squirt is just growing up too fast!

The girls are doing great in school, and they are both learning new things. Kara is learning subtraction, and still hasn't gotten less than 100% on the weekly spelling tests. Kiersten is doing better writing her numbers and letters, and is very excited that she's been doing better at the running races they have. I think it helps that on thursdays I've been making sure she is wearing the right kind of shoes for it. Evie has gotten over her ear infection, and is a much happier girl this past week. She is still a little clingy to me, but starting to ease up a bit. Ben is still working hard as usual, and has been enjoying playing basketball. I've been busy making stuff for my 2 new nieces, Brynnleigh and Brittleah, who I'll be seeing when I go to utah. I also made halloween costumes for Ben and I, but I'll keep it a surprise what they are. It was actually quite easy to make them without a patten. I guess since they are just costumes I wasn't too obsessed with perfection. we already have a costume for Evie, but I'm thinking of making her a second costume to match with ours, to wear to a halloween party on saturday.

a visit from the Disney fairy!

This first picture is just a cute Kiersten pic. It has nothing to do with the rest of the post, I just wanted Ben to be able to see it at work. Love those dimples. A few weeks ago, Ben was showing me some stuffed animals on disney.com. they were the ones we saw at disneyland for $50 or more. on the site, they were discounted to $40 and they were also buy one, get one free. I said I was cool with that, and picked out Dumbo for Kiersten. He mentioned later that he got a couple other things, but I didn't think too much about it. On monday afternoon, when we got home, Kara started freaking out over 2 huge boxes on the porch. (she loves getting packages) I brought them in, and made the girls wait for Daddy to come home, because he always likes to be there for those types of things. I couldn't figure why the boxes were so large for a couple stuffed animals. I would soon see why.
Kara got this cute Pooh Bear.
and Kiersten loves her new Dumbo.
They also got these adorable parkas. you can't really tell, but Kiersten has Tinkerbell, and Kara has Aurora.
Then, Kara also had this sweatshirt,
and this new bathrobe, and I'm not sure if you can see the Nemo flip flops,
and this tiara,
and these 2 sets of pajamas,
and this dress.
Since Kara got all those clothes, he had to get something for Kiersten too. (I guess they didn't have a lot of clothing in her size) So she got this princess shopping cart! Both girls love it. It came with a bunch of canned food and milk cartons. I thought it was funny that all the play food is organic. ha!
I hope they know how spoiled they are. Here are the 2 princesses enjoying one of the boxes that it all arrived in.
